St. Lawrence College

General information

St. Lawrence was founded in 1879, known as South Eastern College. The school rapidly outgrew the single house, leading to the main Victorian building of the present day college by 1884. The chapel was completed in 1927. St. Lawrence College is situated in Ramsgate, close to several golden sand Blue Flag beaches and within walking distance of Charles Dickens’ Broadstairs. It is a safe and secure campus, with 19 hectares of beautiful grounds and sports fields.

St. Lawrence College has well equipped classrooms, cricket pitch, football pitch, table tennis, large auditorium, swimming pool, tennis court, sports hall, hockey pitch and good standard of residential accommodation.

Summer English Programme

All Churchill House lessons are based on specially designed weekly programmes. Each week’s work includes a balance of language learning skills and practice at six different levels. The main emphasis of the lessons is to encourage students to activate their spoken English through communicative tasks and exercises. Teaching staff ensure that all lessons stretch the students’ abilities whilst remaining fun, interesting and practical.

Activities

Activities at Ramsgate centre can take place in the mornings (09:00 - 12:30) or the afternoon (14:00 - 17:00). Activities scheduled for this summer include: dance, drama, football, arts, tennis, badminton, shopping, volleyball, fashion show, clay workshops, orienteering, craft. There are also evening activities each weeknight where students can join in discos, quizzes, competitions and games.

Excursions that will be scheduled for this coming summer include: London, Oxford, Cambridge, Dover Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, Brighton, Windsor Castle, Bath & Stonehenge, Chatham Historic Dockyard.
