General Engish Course
Outside of the summer months Emerald has a number of options to give young learners the opportunity to improve their language skills and familiarise themselves with another culture. The programme includes 20 hours of English per week. The classes are held in the first or in the second half of the day. They are aimed to develop the four basic language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The teachers pay due attention to studying of grammar, expansion of vocabulary and overcoming the language barrier.
Activitieas and excursions
The school offers its students the possibility to explore Dublin and learn more about the city’s rich heritage in history, music and literature. After school, children are going to activity programme, as well as country trips, tours of Dublin, film screenings and student parties. The participation in some activities are free, some are available for an additional fee (10-15 euros). The cost of the full day excursions is 30-50 euros.
Accommodation
Staying with a host family gives students an excellent opportunity to develop their language skills in a natural everyday context. The host-family experience is one of the best ways in which students can learn about the lifestyle and culture of the location where they are studying. The school accommodation team personally select families and the relationship with families is carefully managed and monitored through a process of regular contact, visits and feedback from both families and students. Accommodation for students is provided on a half board basis from Monday to Friday and on full board basis on weekends.
The students who prefer to stay in the residence, are placed in single or double rooms on a self-catering basis. Both residences have recreation area, equipped kitchen, laundry facilities and free Internet access.
