Hello, my name is Katherine. I am from St. Petersburg, Russia.
Two weeks at CATs college have passed very fast, we had a lot of fun there. The accommodation is good, food is tasty, lessons are knowledgeable.
Work with the Bloomberg terminal was amazing and I am so proud of the Bloomberg Business Advantage certificate. It is one of the best skills I could ever had for my business and economics.
Excursions were good. Especially I enjoyed trip to Main Bloomberg office and Bridgepoint HQ. It gave me understanding what I want to deal with in the future.
There are also a few things I did not like. First, there were too many russianspeakrs, I couldn’t practice my English. Secondly, we didn’t have that spirit of group. I was wondering to have a small party at the end, but unfortunately not....
To take everything into consideration, it was very good experience which I honestly would like to repeat!
Always dreaming of visiting Europe, I fell in love with England as soon as the plane landed at the airport. Warm weather, kind people and magical architecture became the main companions for the whole week.
Most of all I liked the trip to London. Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and the British Museum captured its beauty. It is a pity that the buildings of the Parliament were under restoration, because of which we could not enjoy the view of Big Ben. No less beautiful was the town of Bury St Edmunds, which struck me with its beauty and comfort. Before that, I was always attracted to big cities, but after living only a week in Bury, my opinion changed. A small cozy town with lots of good shops for long shopping and small cafes, with kind and helpful people and magical architecture. St Edmunds Bury Cathedral and St. Mary’s Church, performed in my favorite Gothic style, were striking in their grandeur.
Before the trip, I kept thinking that in England we were waited by incessant rains and slush, but we were lucky - the weather was good: not hot, not cold, spilled a little rain a couple of times. It was struck that instead of the expected snow we were met by green grass and a warm breeze. It was unusual to see this in the middle of winter.
I used to be afraid to speak in English with people who do not know Russian. But, thanks to this trip, this irrational fear no longer exists. It was very nice talking to strangers.
I did not want to leave England at all, it was quickly getting used to the atmosphere of this country. I hope that someday I will be able to visit England again.
And for the future travelers I want to advise not to be afraid to talk with people, enjoying their stay in a foreign country and get new dating.
My dream has come true! Once I had the courage to go to Edinburgh it became a reality! It is a welcoming city with lots to see and do! I spent the whole month living with a Scottish family, going sightseeing, socializing with the native speakers and my new friends that I met doing the program of a two week course on Active Methodology for teachers.
It was in August, so I had a great opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of Edinburgh International Festival, as well as Edinburgh Fringe festival, both take place every August. I visited the world famous Military Tattoo performance and Highland Games which are more than worth seeing.
There is a lot to see and learn in the museums and galleries, which come in great number and free of charge, so every day was full of new impressions. The Parliament of Scotland is open for visitors during the festival time and is also free.
The school work is well organized and provides a great variety of different programs, so you feel spoilt for choice. You have to expect everything presented in the advertising videos and written in theleaflets in real life. The school management staff is very efficient and flexible to meet the requirements and the needs of the students. Will Rennie, Academic manager, is absolutely inspiring. The way Will organizes the start of the day with wonderfully shaped warming-ups doesn’t only motivate students to do their best at the lessons but also is an example for us the teachers to follow.
The two students who joined me anddid the Octorial programare over the moon with the lessons and the result.
It was a long stay and a great adventure! I express particular gratitude to English For Life team for finding an appropriate school and course and helping me organize this trip.
There is still one wish left… the wish to be able to afford it more than once.)
But… where there is a will, there is a way!
